There are some words in the healing world that sound dramatic. Soul retrieval is one of them. But the practice itself is deeply gentle, deeply sacred, and for many people, it is the thing that finally makes them feel whole again.
In shamanic tradition, we understand that when we experience trauma , whether a car accident, a difficult childhood, a betrayal, a loss , a part of our essential self can split off. This is not a metaphor. It is an energetic reality. The soul fragment leaves as a way of protecting us from pain we cannot process in the moment.
The problem is that these fragments do not always come back on their own. And without them, we feel it. A persistent sense that something is missing. Emotional numbness. Difficulty being fully present. The feeling that part of you got stuck in the past.
Soul retrieval is the practice of journeying to find these fragments and bringing them home.
How do you know if you need it? Here are some signs:
- You feel like part of you never came back after a specific event
- You have gaps in your memory, especially around difficult periods
- You feel emotionally flat or disconnected, even when life is objectively good
- You have tried many types of healing but something still feels missing
- You feel stuck in a way that goes beyond circumstance
If any of this resonates, soul retrieval might be what your healing is asking for. It is not something I apply as a formula. It emerges when the time is right and when the soul is ready to come home. And when it does, the feeling is unlike anything else. People describe it as finally breathing fully. As colour returning to the world. As coming home to themselves.
